I miss sensible driving behavior

The first thing I noticed about traffic here in Quito is that the cars have the right of way. As a pedestrian, you are responsible for staying out of the way, cars will not stop for you, anywhere. Do not expect a car to slow down as you cross the street. This is such a dramatic change from the rules of Portland, but I guess it works...
